Front of the Class

I was very privileged to co-author Front of the Class: How Tourette Syndrome Made Me the Teacher I Never Had (VanderWyk & Burnham, September 2005, ISBN: 1889242241) with an extraordinary man. My co-author, Brad Cohen, lives daily with Tourette syndrome, a neurological condition that causes him to have uncontrollable vocal tics, facial spasms and neck jerks, among other symptoms. Brad went from being beaten, mocked and shunned as a child, to a Georgia state Teacher of the Year, and was honored on a national level.
I am so proud to have been part of this book. Brad invited me into his life and was an incredible writing partner. He is someone I admire greatly, and I know that as soon as you read his story, you will too. Front of the Class is a story for anyone who is living with a disability, or wants or needs to overcome obstacles to achieve their dreams. That Brad overcame so many stumbling blocks to become the wonderful and successful person that he is, is an inspiration to us all.
